Fishing in Crystal River is in full swing this July, with both inshore and offshore waters delivering solid action for anglers of all levels. Inshore, the redfish bite has been consistent along the mangrove shorelines and oyster bars. Look for them during higher tides, especially in the early morning and late afternoon. Cut mullet, pinfish, and soft plastics are all working well. Don’t be surprised if a few snook crash the party—they’ve been showing up in good numbers around the deeper potholes and creek mouths.

Speckled trout have moved into slightly deeper grass flats, favoring 4 to 6 feet of water. Drifting with popping corks and live shrimp has been a productive method, especially on moving tides.
